Black Leaders Detroit, in honor of Black History month, will be granting $100,000.00 to 20 Detroit nonprofits.

In Detroit, 80% of the population are of African descent, but only a chosen few have been funded to lead the city’s “comeback.” Black Leaders Detroit will change that by challenging 1 million people to give at least $1/week to elevate.

Since 2019, Black Leaders Detroit (BLD) has worked to introduce real capital for Black-owned businesses and nonprofits in the city. There are systemic barriers that persist for Black entrepreneurs, even longtime business owners, and for nonprofit leaders when it comes to accessing money for their organizations. These may look different over the years, but even in a city that’s predominantly Black, the'y’re still here.

In honor of Black History month, BLD will be granting $100,000.00 amongst 20 nonprofits a minimum of $5,000 each business day to a Black-founded and operated nonprofit in the city.
